First batch wheels out
Seven of the eleven students from the first batch of the Pissurlem Technical Institute, graduated with a license to drive. This Institute was set up in 2011 by Fomento Resources in collaboration with Goa’s Regional Transport Authority to empower local residents with better employment opportunities. The course lasted three months and included driving and development of their technical knowledge on different vehicles. On completion of training, the graduates either opt for self-employment or join the mineral resource companies. The second batch of twelve students is expected to graduate in June 2012.
