Sweet home Colomba
Born on the 3rd of July at Morpilla (South Goa), Rahul Velip completed his primary education at Morpilla (till 5th standard. Opportunity for this budding doctor came at an early age, when he received the Rajiv Gandhi scholarship for students from rural areas. This scholarship provided free education till the 12th standard. On completing his 12th standard, he got admission for his MBBS degree at the Goa medical college.
He found his calling in providing healthcare facilities to patients in the rural areas of Goa, which the government could not be access. His first healthcare facility was in Ambaulim, which proved a boon for the villagers who had to earlier travel to Margao in search of a doctor.
‘Dotor’ Rahul started gaining respect due to his hard work and professional attitude. He never got irritated with his patients and insisted they call him at any time of the day.

Impressed by his work, NUSI (now the Wockhardt group) hired him to handle their day shift operations at Cuncolim. Despite the lucrative offer, Dr Rahul did not abandon his Ambaulim patients entirely. He worked out the deal with NUSI, which kept him free in the evenings to take care of the Ambaulim patients.
After a period of six years, the good doctor joined the Community clinic at Colomba, supported by Fomento Resources.
Speaking of his journey, Dr Velip enthuses: “It is here where I feel at home and get great job satisfaction”.
