Mr. P.S. Chodankar has proudly served the mining industry for nearly six decades, to be precise 57 years. He joined Fomento Resources in 1971.
As a new employee, Mr Chodankar faced many immediate challenges. The then Chairman of Fomento Resources Late Madhusudan Timblo dreamt about being the leading exporters from Goa which was realized through determination, dedication and hard work in 1973-74.His next challenge was to load the first (more than hundred thousand tonner) gearless vessel “M.V. Ibaraki Maru”, which M/s Sumitomo Corp of Japan had in mind to allocate to Fomento Resources for consecutive voyages. This vessel was loaded in October-November 1977 by transfer vessel “Maratha Transhipper”. Of course, his past experience helped him accomplish this job with finesse. Similarly, he carried out several successful tasks both at a national and international level given to him.
He recollects some of the fondest memories with the founder of Fomento and how late Mr Madhusudan Timblo would advise him on how not to get discouraged by negative comments passed and proceed ahead with new fresh ideas to achieve goals and targets. The present Chairman of Fomento Group, Mr Auduth Timblo also advised him from time to time on how to be self-determined to achieve targets.
Mr. Chodankar feels proud that he has been associated with Fomento for the last 40 years.
