The Gurus - Ankush Siddekar (Pissurlem)

Great teachers don’t teach different subjects. They teach the same subjects differently. Ankush Siddekar belongs to this special category. Ankush’s teaching goes beyond the four walls of a class room. It extends to the sports field, a nature walk trail, elocution or drawing competition and observation of national days.

After completing his primary education at Pissurlem, he received his degree in political science and Hindi from Government College Sanquelim. He completed his B.Ed from Ponda and began his teaching career at a Government Primary School in Gaonkarwada, Vante.

Ankush ‘Sir’ as he is affectionately known has been an important collaborator with Fomento Resources in attempting to bring change and improve health and education facilities in the village of Pissurlem in North Goa. Ankush encourages students, especially those who are financially less able to strive for the Gyan Jyoti Puraskar scholarship, provided by the Ashiyana trust of Fomento Resources.

Always big on ideas, his next step is to start counseling sessions for parents, to get them more involved in their child’s development and work closely with school authorities to develop programmes.

In regards to his collaborative efforts with the Alliance, Ankush conveys his satisfaction:  “We thank Fomento Resources for their help in improving the infrastructure of our school and providing students with books, uniforms and rain gear as well as organizing remedial classes for weak students”. We feel that we could use their help in integrating more parents in the process of their children’s growth through a well planned process”.
