A celebration of hope
In a quiet neighbourhood of Vasco, a simple initiative brings a daily dose of smiles and happiness to a special group of children. These special children belong to the Occupational Therapy centre, set up and supported by the Ashiyana trust of Fomento Resources. The centre supports children with learning and other difficulties to cope with their challenges and work towards entering the mainstream.
The Ashiyana trust came into existence on 20th February 2007 with the sole purpose of improving, guiding and inspiring the lives of the underprivileged women and children
On August 15, 2010, the centre situated within the Ashadeep School completed its third year - a day the school celebrated as Ashiyana day. All 110 children of the school attended the function and showcased their talents in singing and dancing.
A bit of balloon art and magic enlivened the proceedings.
Eminent dignitaries such as the Chairman of the Mormugao Port Trust – Mr. Praveen Agarwal and his wife Deepali Agarwal, the Deputy Chairman – Mr. PC Parida and Dr. Dorothy Bapat - eminent clinical psychologist were present, along with Dr. Naresh Babu of Fomento Resources who runs the Occupational Therapy Centre - the first of its kind in Goa.
A team of officials from Fomento Resources also took part in the festivities and celebration where gifts were distributed to the little ones.
